Reading Responses
Reading is an important component of learning at Venture Academy. The Academy sets a goal for each student to read at least 40 books by the end of the school year. To help students meet this goal in the middle school, the English Language Arts classes use Reading Responses.
Reading Responses are like book reports. However, instead of just having a student summarize what they’ve read, these responses also prompt students to think about their reading and reflect on it in various ways. This is an important practice for high school writing, where students have to write 3-4 page essays on what they’ve read in and for class.

Further down this page you will find Reading Response Instructions and Choice Board. Also included is a typed example of a Response for students to use a model for typing or handwriting.

Reading Responses are due on Fridays, unless otherwise specified by Ms. Bardin
